Fair questions
What does the £60 include?
Diagnosis and up to the first hour of labour. Parts are extra. If the job needs longer, further labour is £60/hour, agreed before I continue.
Do I still pay the £60 if you cannot finish it today?
Yes. The £60 covers diagnosis and the first hour. If a part has to be ordered, or the job needs a return, I quote that before I start the extra work.
Are parts included?
No. Parts are charged separately. I tell you the price before I fit them.
Is the call-out the same for gas and plumbing?
Yes. £60 including diagnosis and the first hour. Parts extra. Same rules on a boiler as on a tap.
Is this "from £60"?
No. The call-out is £60. Never "from £60".
When does the hourly rate start?
After the first hour. Further labour is £60/hour, agreed before I continue. Nothing starts without your go-ahead.
What if you need a part that is not on the van?
I tell you before I order it. You get the price. The call-out still covers the diagnosis and the first hour already done.
What is a fixed-price job?
A boiler service is £80, booked in advance. A landlord gas safety certificate is £70 per property, up to 2 gas appliances. A planned sink install is £150 labour, parts extra. Power flushes and bathroom plumbing are quoted in writing.
Is a landlord certificate the same as a call-out?
A CP12 is a booked visit at £70 per property, up to 2 gas appliances. If an appliance fails on that visit, you already paid for the certificate, so you only pay for the repair.
What hours are out of hours?
Anything outside my normal working day. Opening hours are [Opening hours TBC]. Out of hours call-outs are £90. I confirm the rate on the phone before I set off.
Can you look at more than one thing on the same visit?
Yes. Tell me on the phone. One call-out covers the visit, including diagnosis and the first hour of labour.
Do I need to be in?
Someone needs to let me in and show me the fault. If it is a close, a fob, or a neighbour with a key, say so when you book.
How do I get a quote?
Call or WhatsApp with the postcode and what it is doing. A photo helps. Repair visits are the £60 call-out. Planned jobs are quoted in writing first.
Do you cover the whole of Glasgow?
Glasgow and the towns around it. If you are on the edge of the map, call anyway.
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
