Sink Installation Glasgow
A new kitchen sink still in the box. A wash basin that has to come out. I disconnect the old one, set the new sink, connect hot, cold and waste, and leave it holding water. Same van as the heating work. Same name on the job.
Common signs
- A new sink or basin waiting to go in
- An old sink leaking at the waste or the tap holes
- A cracked bowl, a rusted drainer, or a unit that will not take the old fit
- No isolation under the sink, so a drip means the whole house off
- A trap that smells, or a waste that will not hold
What I check
- The sink you have bought, the worktop cut-out, and whether it actually fits
- Isolation on hot and cold before anything comes off
- Tap holes, waste, overflow, and the trap that has to sit in the cupboard
- A water-tight joint on supply and waste once it is in
- A fill and a hold: no drip under the bowl, no leak at the wall
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
Questions I get asked
Do I supply the sink?
You can. Have it on site, still boxed if you can. If you want me to source it, say so on the phone and I price that in writing first.
Kitchen sinks and bathroom basins?
Yes. A kitchen sink or a wash hand basin. Baths, showers and a bathroom refit sit on the bathroom plumbing page.
Is a sink install the £60 call-out?
A leak or a failed waste on the visit is the £60 call-out: diagnosis and the first hour, parts extra. A planned install is £150 labour, parts extra. Significant pipework alteration is quoted separately.
