Power Flush Glasgow
Radiators cold at the bottom. Water that looks like gravy when you bleed a valve. Heat that dies halfway around the house. That is often sludge. I power flush only when it will actually help. If it will not, I tell you on the visit and I do the job that will.
Common signs
- Radiators hot at the top, cold at the bottom
- Black or brown water from bleed valves
- The system used to heat and now crawls
- Repeated pump or valve failures
- A magnetic filter packed with black sludge
What I check
- Whether sludge is the problem, or a failed pump or valve
- Boiler strainers, filters and the magnetic filter
- Radiators and pipework for blockages I can prove
- Inhibitor levels after the flush
- A full run-up so every radiator actually heats
- Advice on a filter if you do not already have one
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
Questions I get asked
Does every heating system need a power flush?
No. I will not sell you one as a default. If a flush will not fix the cold rooms, I will not do it.
How much does a power flush cost?
It depends on the size of the system and how blocked it is. I quote after I have seen it.
Will a flush damage an old boiler?
A careless flush can. I assess the boiler and the pipework first. If the kit is too far gone, I say so and I talk through the honest options.
