Gas Water Heaters Glasgow
A gas water heater should give you hot water on demand, not a pilot that will not hold or a unit that soots up the cupboard. I service, repair and install domestic natural gas water heaters. If the appliance is the wrong type for my registration, I tell you on the phone.
Common signs
- No hot water from the heater, or water that will not get hot
- A pilot that will not stay lit
- Soot, smell or staining around the flue or case
- A unit that bangs when it fires
- A heater you want replacing like-for-like on natural gas
What I check
- That the appliance is domestic natural gas, and inside my Gas Safe scope
- Ignition, burner and whether it is burning cleanly
- The flue and ventilation for that cupboard or room
- Water connections, scale and the heat exchanger
- Safety devices before I leave it in use
- A certificate on a new install
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
Questions I get asked
Is this the same as a boiler?
No. This is a dedicated gas water heater, not a central heating boiler. If your hot water comes from a combi, you want boiler repair instead.
Can you fit any water heater?
I fit domestic natural gas appliances inside my registration. If yours is not a job I can take, I will tell you on the phone.
The cupboard smells when it runs. Is that urgent?
Yes. Turn it off, ventilate, and call me. If you smell gas, call 0800 111 999 first.
Where I work
Glasgow and the towns around it. If you are on the edge of the map, call anyway.
