Gas Hob Installation Glasgow
A hob needs a sound connection under the worktop and a tightness test you never see. I fit it, light every burner, and certificate the job. Domestic natural gas only. If the cut-out, isolation valve or pipe run is wrong, I say so before I connect anything.
Common signs
- A new hob still in the box
- A hob swap in an existing cut-out
- Burners that pop, smell or will not stay lit
- A flexible that looks perished or crushed under the worktop
- A kitchen fitter waiting on a Gas Safe engineer to finish the gas
What I check
- That the hob is for natural gas
- Isolation valve and the pipe or hose under the worktop
- Clearance, stability and that the hob sits level in the cut-out
- Tightness of every joint I touch
- A clean light and a stable flame on every burner
- A certificate for the install
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
Questions I get asked
Does the kitchen fitter do the gas?
No. The fitter can cut the worktop. I do the gas. If they have already connected it, I test it and I will not leave an unsafe joint.
Can you fit a cooker as well as a hob?
Yes. Cooker installs have their own page. Call with both jobs if you want them on the same visit.
What if there is no isolation valve?
I fit one, or I will not connect the hob. That is a safety point, not an upsell.
Where I work
Glasgow and the towns around it. If you are on the edge of the map, call anyway.
