Gas Cooker Installation Glasgow
A cooker is not a plug-in. I connect it to the gas, test the joint, light it, and leave you with a certificate. Domestic natural gas only. If the bayonet, isolation valve or pipework is wrong, I fix that first or I tell you why I will not connect it.
Common signs
- A new cooker still sitting in the kitchen
- An old cooker to disconnect and a new one to go in its place
- A smell at the bayonet or hose
- Burners that will not light, or that light then blow out
- A landlord or insurer asking for proof it was fitted by a Gas Safe engineer
What I check
- That the appliance is domestic natural gas, inside my registration
- Isolation valve, hose or copper, and the bayonet if you have one
- Tightness of the connection
- Burner pressure and a clean light on every ring and the oven
- Stability, chain or hose restraint where it is required
- A certificate for the install
Check my card
Every legitimate gas engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card. Ask to see mine at the door, or check my number before I arrive. If an engineer will not show you a card, do not let them near your gas.
Questions I get asked
Can I connect a gas cooker myself?
No. Gas work on a cooker is for a Gas Safe registered engineer. I will not tidy up an illegal connection without putting it right.
Do you install hobs as well?
Yes. Hob installs are a separate page if that is the job. Same rules: connected, tested, certificated.
What do you need from me before you come?
The make and model, a photo of the existing bayonet or pipe, and whether the cooker is already in the kitchen. That stops a wasted visit.
Where I work
